Supreme Court ticks off Defence ministry on disability pension to soldier

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has ruled that any disability sustained during the course of military service will be attributed to service conditions unless the disability was such that the disease could not have been detected on medical examination before a person is selected for defence service.
The apex court ordered the defence ministry to pay disability pension to Manjeet Singh, a former soldier of Jammu Kashmir Rifles, upholding a ruling of the Jammu & Kashmir HC.
