All CBSE schools must have special educators

MUMBAI: It will be mandatory for all schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to appoint a special educator to achieve inclusive practices.

In a circular, DTS Rao, CBSE’s joint secretary, said, “A special educator is specifically required in schools to work with children and young adults who require additional support in order to complete their learning successfully. These teachers may work with children with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, developmental disabilities such as autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and specific learning sisabilities, as they are emotionally vulnerable and have behavioural difficulties.
