With more disabled people interested in trying their hands at marathons, the 13th edition of Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM), Sunday, recorded participation of 363 persons with disability — the highest since its inception. In 2015, as many as 290 disabled persons had participated, while the year 2014 saw 200 such participants.
For Amarjeet Singh Chawla, who turned 60 ten days ago, this was his 45th half-marathon. He plans to complete 101 such marathons. “I want to make records and set an example for people that visually impaired are no less active than people with eyesight,” he said.
