PANAJI: After receiving a number of complaints regarding parking spaces notified for persons with disabilities, which are being occupied by able-bodied citizens in Panaji, the state commission for persons with disabilities (SCPD) decided it was time to tackle the problem head-on. SCPD decided it was not enough to get the traffic police involved. So, instead it held a sensitization workshop for parking attendants, CCP officials and the traffic police.
Fifteen pay-parking attendants employed on contract basis for the CCP along with traffic police and the CCP commissioner, among others attended the program.Complaints in the past, had CCP and the traffic police passing the buck amongst each other.
