Students build gesture-controlled wheelchair

Four engineering students from Manipal University have developed a low-cost wheelchair that can be controlled by simple hand gestures to give physically disabled people enhanced mobility.
It all happened when Sangeeth Satheesh, a final-year mechatronics engineering student from the university’s Manipal Institute of Technology, was talking to his friends about how his aunt — who is disabled — found it difficult to move around in her wheelchair.
