A better future for deafblind kids

Panaji: Anuradha Bagchi, deputy director of the Training Centre for Teachers of the Deafblind at the Helen Keller Institute for Deaf and Deafblind stressed on the importance of early intervention among children with deafblindness, pointing out that most families have a hard time digesting the fact that their offspring has a disability and end up seeking help when their child is above six years old.
Early intervention in the formative years of a child’s life helps maximize their potential for growth and development, she said, citing examples of those who have worked around their disabilities and are gainfully employed today.
