Braille, interpreter facilities in Madras HC soon

CHENNAI: With documents in Braille and interpreter to handle sign language of the speech impaired, Madras high court is set to go much beyond the usual ramp facilities to be the most disabled-friendly and barrier-free court campus in the country.

Moving in that direction, the first bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar ordered state authorities as well as its own registrar-general to take steps to obtain an expert opinion to make the courts in Tamil Nadu more disabled friendly and submit a report by June when the high court reopens after summer recess.
