Jamshedpur: For 29-year-old Meena Kumari, a visually impaired girl from Barigora, a seven-week course on digital literacy in Noamundi not only made her tech-savvy but hel-ped her become independent.Under the joint initiative of Tata Steel Skill Development Society (TSSDS) and NGO Enable India, Bangalore, Meena along with 13 other visually impaired persons received a first-of-its-kind seven-week skill training on digital literacy from December 20 to February 7 at Sabal, a capacity building centre for people with disabilities, at Noamundi in West Singhbhum, about 130km from here.
“The course not only taught me computer skills but also helped me become independent. I never went out without my family and here I stayed alone for over a month. It was a great experience,” said Meena, an arts graduate.
