Two children with special needs (CWSN) enrolled under inclusive education for disabled (IED) bucked the trend and have become self-reliant. One of them Sidharth Sehgal (22) has been employed at the Suvidha Centre canteen, DC Complex, which is run by an NGO for disabled.
Another child Hrithik, who was enrolled in district project Umeed, has been working as a salesman at a school bag shop at the Chaura Bazaar.Sidharth, a resident of Shimlapuri, is mentally disabled. He has two brothers Varun and Himanshu, who are also specially challenged. A couple of days ago, they joined vocational classes for special children at the Sarv Siksha Abhiyan office, Ludhiana. Sidharth’s family shifted from Delhi to Ludhiana a few years back. His father Deepak, left his job to pay special attention to his kids. Despondency dawned upon him as he realised that all his children were specially challenged.
