War veteran overcomes disability, lives life to full

Nearly 17 years ago, Nayak Deep Chand Kayyat met with a fatal incident in Operation Parakram, during the Parliamentary attacks in 2001. Kayyat lost his right arm and both the legs when one of the gun shells exploded near him. Today, the war veteran lives his life independently with utmost optimism and acceptance.
Hailing from Panchgrami Pabra, Hissar, Haryana, Kayyat began his life as a gunner in 1889 Light Regiment in the Indian Army. He was a part of Operation Vijay Kargil in 1999, Operation Rakshak Srinagar, and Operation Parakram in 2001.
